Canada-India Trade Set to Double to $70 Billion by 2030
The Canadian Prime Minister, Mark Carney, and the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, have agreed to a "new partnership" to heal a troubled relationship between the two countries. They have agreed to sign a $5.5 billion deal in energy, technology, and defense, including a massive $2.6 billion uranium deal in Saskatchewan. They are planning to sign a free trade deal by the end of 2025 and aim to increase their current trade volume of $35 billion to $70 billion in 2030.
Despite the history of Indian interference in Canada, Prime Minister Mark Carney is now focusing on "diversifying trade" to reduce dependence on the US market.
